If you are anything like me or millions of other Americans, you hate getting that huge electric bill every month. I am still one of those people that just have to pay to the electric company humbly, but that could all change in the near future. This is all because of a new way of using wind power to get electricity for your house. In fact in some cases the tables have turned completely and the people having home wind power are actually receiving a check from the electric company, instead of sending them one. I can't even imagine how good that will feel if I'll ever be in that position, jumping up and down comes to my mind when I think about it.
Before we get to the point of getting those checks, let's take a closer look at how this whole wind power "stuff" works. As we know there are bigger sites where this has been used for years, but getting wind power for homes is a bit of a different thing and it can't be done for every home.

Obviously if you live in an apartment or your house is located somewhere that has hardly any wind ever, wind power isn't for you. However, there are many homes that are perfect for wind power and you might just live in that kind of a home without even knowing it yourself. The amount of wind needed isn't all that much and the device itself doesn't take too much space either. Just step outside and take a look, could you have a house suitable for wind power?
If you decide to get wind power for your house you might wonder what happens next. Well, there will be a device placed on your yard, which is basically just a little tower with a wind turbine at the top. There doesn't have to be any re-wiring in your house, so turning that wind power to electricity is in fact very easy.
Now do you still remember when I mentioned about getting checks from the electric company? The thing with home wind power is that it often produces too much electricity, or you just aren't using enough, however you wish to look at it. Now the good part is that you can actually sell that extra electricity, yes you heard me right! The electrical companies will happily pay to get their hands on your electricity, no matter how funny it sounds.
Now there are of course some other things like saving the planet using wind power, but I will get back to that some other time. At the time I'm more interested in saving some money, as the economy is going downhill big time.
